I Saw 2012 on opening night. I would give it four and a half stars. What it lacked in story (not that much). It made up for in intensity, this is the only movie that literally had me at the edge of my seat. Most of the characters were very well developed. The ones that weren’t were more on the shallow side.
I especially liked the way they built suspense. But even more important, is how to deal with that suspense. I’ve seen movies abuse the element of suspense or just plainly build it up then throw it away. This movie was much different, once the suspense was at the bursting point, they opened the floodgates and totally blew me away. They really captured the elemant of human helplessness, how the human race could just sit and whatch as the earths gravity shifted and the waters rose, and the ash clouds rained down on the earth. And how some just wanted to help themselves while others risked them for others.
The movie’s computer generated elements were the best I’ve seen (speaking as an amateur CGI artist myself). The movie itself was breathtaking, and was very satisfying (despite the cursing and inappropriate remarks that some might find distasteful). I was very, very, very surprised at how good this movie was, and I strongly believe that it will attract huge publicity. Overall, the movie was very good and I highly recommend it to anyone, especially people who have seen (and liked) similar movies.

This wonderful, visually appealing, adventurous and humorous webcomic, created by Kazu Kubuishi, is both visually stunning and has an almost overwhelming relaxation to it. It is a very smooth style of art which focuses on one color set (with the frequent exception of incredibly colorful environments) for the places that Copper (a laid back, easy going and adventurous boy) and his dog Fred (an excitable, semi-grumpy yet loyal companion).
Together, Copper and Fred explore wonderfully colorful and stimulating environments while they meet equally stunning characters. They are continually expanding their wide assortment of travel methods. They face obstacles that are usually complained about by Fred but are faced head on by Copper.
Overall, the comic has a very warm, fun, smooth, humorous and almost dreamlike atmosphere (actually some have an exact dreamlike feeling to them usually followed by Copper waking up). The book version is out for pre-order on amazon in paperback and hardcover. I would highly recommend funding Kubuishi’s efforts.

I hereby deem indie games superior to commercial games on the grounds that indie games are more innovative and able to take creative liberties based on fun rather than profit. Also indie games can be done on any schedule and they are only worked on by people who are passionate for the industry enough to make wonderful games. These companies are many, but to name a few, Wolfire, Cryptic Sea and 2Dboy. And now a moment of silence for all the game ideas that were rejected by commercial game labels because they would not draw a huge profit.
…
And now I’m going to play gish…and wait for overgrowth.
